Multi-vehicle Rt. 287 accident settled on eve of Morris County trial for corporate officer and retired engineer for a total of $288,000

John Brost and Amos Gern settled the claims of a married couple injured in a 2016 multi-vehicle accident on Route 287 North in Hanover Township for a total of $288,000, on the eve of April 19, 2021 trial. The female passenger, a corporate human resources officer, sustained comminuted, transverse displaced fractures through the base of the third distal phalanx and through the tuft of the second distal phalanx, of her left hand. Surgery was performed, but she was left with permanent and painful nail deformity of the left index and long fingers. She further suffered an exacerbation of a pre-existing right knee condition from 10 years ago, including a tear of the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus, partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament, and a sprain of the medial collateral ligament, requiring surgical care to the right knee. Additionally, this client sustained injuries to her neck with MRI-documented disc herniation, bulges, and confirmed radiculopathy on EMG, requiring extensive PT. Her husband, a retired engineer, sustained numerous orthopedic injuries including a partial tear to a tendon in his left shoulder, MRI-documented herniations in his neck and back, EMG-documented radiculopathy, requiring PT and multiple epidural injections. Both clients have been significantly restricted in their activities of daily living, especially in sports-related hobbies in which they had regularly engaged, including golf, kick-boxing, horse-back riding, skiing, weight-lifting and gymnastics, and jogging.
