    Mayra Patricia Suazo-Aquino is an associate at Starr, Gern, Davison & Rubin, P.C., in Roseland, New Jersey.  Mayra received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, where she graduated with honors (cum laude) in 2009.  She received her Juris Doctorate from Touro Law in 2013. Mayra became a member of the New Jersey Bar in 2013 and the New York Bar in 2014 and is also authorized to appear in the United States District Court, District of New Jersey.

    She joined Starr, Gern, Davison & Rubin, P.C. as an associate specializing in Personal Injury. Mayra has handled various types of personal injury matters including motor vehicle accidents, slip/trip and fall accidents, and dog bite attacks, among others. She has successfully managed all cases from initial client intake through pre-suit investigation, initial pleadings, written discovery, motion practice, depositions, arbitrations, settlement negotiations, trials and appeals.  She prides herself in excellent client relations and communication skills and thorough case review and presentation.

    Mayra was previously employed with the Kassem & Associates, P.C. as an Associate handling a wide variety of cases, including without limitation, Personal Injury (auto, bus, slip and fall, product liability, etc.), Criminal Defense (including Municipal matters such as traffic violations and DUIs), Municipal Appeals, Complex Commercial Litigation, Civil litigation, Family Law (Divorce, Child Custody and Support issues, TRO/FROs, and Pre-Nuptial/Property Settlement Agreements), Landlord/Tenant Law, Contract, Guardianship and minor Real Estate transactions for the firm. 

    Prior to graduating law school, Mayra participated in multiple internships resulting in valuable knowledge and experience in the fields in which she later practiced. Specifically, she interned at: the Hudson County Superior Court where she completed a summer internship under the Hon. Marybeth Rogers, J.S.C.; the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office (Appellate Division); and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Before attending law school, Mayra was employed as a paralegal at Takacs & Somers, Esqs. in New Brunswick, New Jersey from 2006-2009, while completing her undergraduate studies at Rutgers. Additionally, as an undergraduate, Mayra sought to become involved in local and state politics. She interned at the Office of the United States Senator Robert Menendez, the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and the State Legislature—Office of the Assembly Majority, State House in Trenton, New Jersey.

    Over the past five years, Mayra has appeared in Federal, State and Municipal courts on both civil and criminal matters.  Mayra also has years of experience arguing pre-trial motions in both civil and criminal matters as well as negotiating favorable settlements and dispositions.

    Mayra is fluent in Spanish.
