Jeffrey A. Rizika settled a motor vehicle accident claim on behalf of a 46 year old Irvington, New Jersey mother of 6 who was injured in a motor vehicle accident in Tarrytown, NY when her vehicle was struck by a car that was exiting a driveway while she drove past. The impact injured her neck, which caused radiating pain and numbness down her arm and hand, as a result of a herniated disc in her cervical spine. After a course of physical therapy and trigger point injections, which did not ease the pain, she underwent complex surgery consisting of an anterior cervical microdiscectomy at C6-7, partial corpectomies at C6 and C7 for spinal cord decompression, and a interbody fusion with plate and screw fixation. The surgery resulted in a 5 cm scar on the left front of her neck. The case was settled for $250,000, which was the maximum amount available from the drivers insurance policy, prior to litigation.
